School-Parent Compact 2018-2019

Dear Family,

Daughtry Elementary School, students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement.  It also describes how school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state's high standards.


To understand how working together can benefit your child, it is first important to understand our district's and school's goals for student academic achievement.  


Butts County System Goals:

·       Excellence in Relationships and Perceptions


Daughtry Elementary School Goals:

Performance on the state test:  The Georgia Milestones Assessment System

·       Our performance on the Georgia Milestones Assessment will meet or exceed the state level in all four content areas: English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

  • Our students will meet and/or exceed State Averages on the State Growth Model.

School Responsibilities:


Daughtry Elementary School, will:


1.     Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State's student academic achievement standards:

·       Include open-ended questions on benchmark assessments

·       Develop common rubrics for assessment of performance tasks in Reading and Math

·       Provide quality take home instructional activities

·       Communicate regularly with parents on their child's progress

2.              Daughtry Elementary School will hold parent-teacher conferences annually, during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child's achievement.


3.              Provide parents with frequent reports on their children's progress.

·       Folders are sent home every Wednesday with updates on student progress and other classroom activities

·       Progress Reports are sent home every four and a half weeks

·       Report cards are sent home every 9 weeks

·       Parents may access student's grades and attendance by using the Infinite Campus parent portal


4.             Provide reasonable access to staff.

·       All teachers have school email addresses and are expected to check their emails each day

·       Staff members may be contacted through the on-line messaging center on our school website


5.              Parents have the opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child's classroom activities as follows: 

·       Encourage parents to complete a volunteer packet

·       Maintain an open door policy for approved volunteers

·       Attend parent activities to help parents become more effective in helping children with school

·       Attend PTO designed to help parent become more effective in helping children with school

·       Attend PTO designed to help parents learn more about the curriculum and other activities offered by Daughtry Elementary


Parent Responsibilities:


We, as parents, will:

·       Participate in parent workshops that support student achievement

·       Review information sent home on academic performance

·       Communicate regularly with teacher on my child's progress

·       Discuss academic goals with my child

·       Ensure my child attends school regularly and is on time

·      Check my child's homework before it is returned to school


Student Responsibilities:

  • Have my parents review my assignments before giving it to my teacher
  • Set and reach my goals by using my best skills and working to improve my weakest skills
  • Ask my teacher or another adult in the classroom if I need help with my schoolwork
  • Tell an adult if I am having any kind of trouble with academics, other students, and/or anything that is interfereing with my learning
  • Exhibit positive behavior to ensure all students are able to learn



Please review this School-Parent Compact with your child. This School-Parent Compact will be discussed with you throughout the year at different school-family events as we work together to help your child succeed in school.
